The different roles in Drupal

There are three different types of roles.

Editor

An editor may publish all content, and is responsible for moderating content written by contributors. They can:

  • move content between all transitions
  •  create, edit, delete media
  • create, edit, delete all content (except News article and Newsroom)
  • manage revisions on all content (except News article and Newsroom)

Author

An author can publish their own content, they can:

  • move content between most transitions
  • create and edit any media
  • delete own media
  • create and edit own content (except News article and Newsroom)
  • delete own content

Contributor

A contributor can draft content and it will be reviewed by an editor. They can:

  • move content between limited transitions (cannot publish)
  • create and edit any media
  • delete own media
  • create and edit own content (except News article / Newsroom)
  • delete own content
